Programs and Tickets: Non-revenue sports

The University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, renowned for its Men’s Basketball Program, supports 28 varsity sports. Its 26 non-revenue sports (excluding boxing, no longer a varsity sport) have secured 45 of UNC’s 51 NCAA Division I team national championships across seven sports, ranking eighth all-time, plus 52 individual national championships.

Originally these sports were collectively know as the “Olympic sports.” Their designation was changed in July 2021 when NCAA adopted the Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) Policy, allowing student-athletes to benefit from their NIL without jeopardizing their eligibility.
